Grant Burge Holy Trinity GSM
Description
Grant Burge Holy Trinity GSM — Barossa Valley, South Australia, 14.5% ABV. Wines of Distinction tier GSM blend, drawing primarily from the Barossa Valley (91.7%) with complementary parcels from the Mount Lofty Ranges and Fleurieu. The blend is meticulously constructed: 42.5% Grenache, 30.4% Shiraz, 27% Mourvèdre, and 0.1% Cabernet Sauvignon — proportions that put Grenache's aromatic expressiveness at the fore while Mourvèdre delivers earthy, savoury depth. In the glass, a medium purple with bright red hues leads to a perfumed nose of violet florals, lemon myrtle, and ground ginger that is distinctive and immediately food-friendly. The palate delivers sweet spice, blood plum, light cocoa, and vibrant raspberry, all framed by soft, silky, mouth-coating tannins and a refreshing, medium-bodied finish.
On-trade positioning: Holy Trinity is the sommelier's tool for introducing the GSM blend format to guests who are not yet familiar with the style — the nose and palate are expressive and immediately engaging, making table-side explanation rewarding and natural. At $66 and 14.5% ABV it sits comfortably in a mid-weight position suitable for lunch service as well as dinner, with versatility across a broad food menu. The multi-region sourcing story gives a credentialled host material about terroir blending that single-variety pours cannot match. Pair with roasted lamb, duck breast, mushroom-based dishes, or a Provençal-style braise where its spice, fruit, and savoury structure all shine. As the accessible GSM entry to the Grant Burge range, Holy Trinity creates a natural upgrade path toward Abednego — giving operators a two-tier GSM story to drive incremental spend on list.
